Gratitude and Indication:

As the Syrian Revolution enters its 36^th month and enters its fourth year, martyrs of civilians, defected soldiers, and enrollees in the FSA, are still falling on a daily basis. That coincided with a remarkable escalation on part of the regime forces using the fiercest and deadliest types of weapons including internationally banned weapons such as chemical weapons, poisonous gases and incendiary missiles, in addition to resorting to a policy of systematic shelling of cities and specific areas, drawing on the support of external forces whose direct involvement in fighting alongside the regime forces has been recently proven, in an attempt to change the demographic features of those cities and regions.
Moreover, the regime has been following a systematic policy of besieging and preventing the entry of food to many of the areas that are not controlled by the military forces of the regime.

VDC which has been working since the beginning of the revolution on monitoring and documenting all violations and crimes by the regime presents its report about Dignity Revolution martyrs of March 2014 covering the period from 1^st till 31^th March 2014.

Pointing out the following:

1. Regime's fatalities are not included in the reported death toll.
2. These figures are not final in any way, and they are subject to continuous and periodic scrutiny by center's activists and the field documentation team
3. Figures may differ between reports even within the same district, and this can be referred to the territorial audit that would reveals places of errors and faults, as well as the continuous follow up to identify undistinguished martyrs whenever they are identified.

Center for Documentation of Violations in Syria deeply thanks all field activists who are doing a tremendous job in order to document the martyrs and complete their data, and thanks all our readers that collaborated with the center, in addition to the families of the victims who showed peerless response with (WatheqDocument it Campaign) - which has been started in a number of Syrian governorates and regions- by providing us with some data, and correcting another.

 

Martyrs of the Revolution

VDC has documented, since the beginning of the revolution in March 2011 till the end of March 2014 (91,923) martyrs, (2,408) of which died in March 2014.

Of those martyrs, (2,183) have been documented by their full names, (225) documented as unidentified, (103) of which were documented with videos and photos and (122) documented only by witnessing.

The martyrs of March 2014 distributed on all the days of the month with an average number of (78) martyrs/day; i.e.28 martyr less than the last month, for in February the average number was (106) martyrs/day. The highest number was on February 7^{th with} (148) Martyrs.

-Victims of shooting and regime snipers are 42%, artillery bombing victims are 15% and field execution victims are 3%

The number of civilian martyrs is (1,444) of non-civilians is 964 (7) of which are children.-

-The number of male martyrs is (2,155) i.e.89%, and of female martyrs is (253) i.e.11 %
