more martyrs of Civilians, Military personnel and volunteers of the FSA continue to cite, as regime forces further continue its heaving shelling and bombing in an open war against Syrians and the uprising.
Violations Documentation Center in Syrian has worked since the beginning of the uprising, on monitoring and documenting all regime's violations and crimes, and here below is the Monthly report of the Dignity revolution martyrs, with a disclaimer on the following remarks:

  1. Regime's fatalities are not included in the reported death toll.
  2. These figures are not final in any way, and they are subject to continuous and periodic scrutiny by center's activists and the field documentation team
  3. 3. Figures may differ at reports even within the same district, and this can be referred to the territorial audit that would reveals places of errors and faults, as well as the continuous follow up to identify undistinguished martyrs whenever they are identified.

VDC would like to thank all the field activists who have done a tremendous work on documenting martyrs' names and completing their relevant data, as well as thanking those interested in our published reports, providing and correcting some of the published data.

Martyrs' Figures:
The Violations Documentation center has documented the names of 61,814 martyrs, cited through the period (March, 2011 – May, 2013), 3,425 of them have cited in May only.
May's figures: (3,113) martyrs have been documented in full name, (312) were unidentified, (108) of them were documented through videos or photographic evidences, and (204) of them through testimonies of eyewitnesses

Martyrs in May have cited on daily basis all days of the month, the daily average toll of martyrs was 123 martyr, 13 less comparing to the average of the previous month, daily death rate has peaked on the 02 of May at 204 martyr, most of them have cited in the massacre that took place in Tartous province at Banyas- Bayda Village.

The percentage of martyrs who died due to shooting was 46%, while 28% have cited due to bombing, and 8% due to field execution.

The count of Civilian martyrs reached 2,006, and 1,419 of non-civilians, 7 of them were children.

The number of Male martyrs was 3,067 (90%), while females were 358 (10%)
